One of the most significant photographs in my life was taken in Costa Rica. The photograph displays myself harnessed on a zip line and was taken from behind. Aside from the photo being aesthetically pleasing due to the incredible amount of trees and leaves that envelop me, it is extremely intriguing. It is difficult to see what’s ahead of me other than an endless rainforest. Additionally, because of my position, my face is not visible, rather, my bent, focused figure is. My summer in Costa Rica was a difficult one. I often felt as though I did not know what I was getting myself into and had a hard time dealing with the activities and people on my summer trip. However, the moment that this photograph was taken was a time of great meditation for me. Although I only had up to 20 seconds on each zipline, it caused me to concentrate on something other my own negative energy. It caused me to take a look at the bigger picture, or at least realize that there was one. As the wind whipped my hair and my eyes skimmed the treetops, I felt more alive than ever before. As a flew through what seemed like an endless sea of lush greenery, I was reminded that we are the creators of our limits and that there is a great deal to see, if we allow ourselves to look and appreciate it. It was time to stop limiting myself to thinking about what I was displeased with and realize that, as the rainforest showed, there were interesting, noteworthy things all around me.
